Batangas Railways
Batangas Railways branched near Coca-cola Calamba Plant. Although tracks are already gone, one can still trace the entire Batangas line using Google Earth. The red line is the railway going to Bicol while the blue line is the Batangas branch.
In fact, until the 1920s, the Main Line South ran from Calamba using the northern half of the now-abandoned Batangas line till Luta (now Malvar), Batangas, then turned east across Alaminos, Laguna and on to San Pablo. The remaining southern half of the now-abandoned Batangas line ran till Batangas City.
The current Main Line South seen running eastward from Calamba as shown on this map was then a branch line till Pagsanjan, Laguna.
A railroad line from the western half of the Pagsanjan branch line at Los Banyos was constructed headed southward and curving around the mountainous areas till San Pablo, which became known as the Los Banyos-San Pablo cut-off line, which when opened, cut down travelling time. The whole Batangas line then became a branch line, as well as the Luta-San Pablo portion of until then was part of Main Line South, while the Pagsanjan line was shortened.
Later on, the entire Batangas line, including the one connecting to San Pablo, as well as the Pagsanjan line, were abandoned.
Any interest in reviving them? There's been way too much talk about reviving the Batangas line. Until then, who believes it will be actually revived?
did u know that malvar is a 2nd class municipality in the Province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the latest census, it has a population of 32,691 people in 6,310 households.
I do hope of the approval of this project because by doing so more opportunities will open to batangas. Moreover, the growth for the needs of ahouse for sale in batangas will not just be for home seekers but for future entrepreneurs as well.
