RIHSPI Weekend Trip: September 20, 2008.
Pre-stressed concrete ties stored beside Horace Higgins Hall, Philippine National Railways Compound,  Caloocan City.

RIHSPI members followed the rows of pre-stressed concrete ties and discovered the production area inside the Engineering Department compound of PNR.

More pre-stressed concrete ties stored inside the compound.

A peek inside the mold.

Workers busy preparing the steel bars with Pandrol shoulders.

An unknown machine being used to prepare the steel bars.

Preparing for hardening. Twenty four hours under the canvas with steam.

Special thanks to Mr. Anonuevo for letting us view the production process. Mr. Anonuevo learned the production process from John Holland in the early 1990s.

Work on a Maundy Thursday

A small group of Hanjin workers were seen working on a Maundy Thursday. Kudos to Project Manager Kim Il Hwan for making this possible and for rushing the rehabilitation of the Manila Belt Line in time for the 100th anniversary this coming March 25, 2008. Photo above shows the team working and already reached the curve near the South Super Highway.

Paco Station

Paco Station, September 2007. The station will be 100 years old soon.

Plaza Dilao and Paco Station. September 2007. More funds were given to beautify this park than the station at the back.

PNR tracks at the back of Paco Station. September, 2007. The Manila Mayor needs more than just road sweeping to clear the shopping mall mess beside the Paco station.
